Tug: Lucky D – built 1970 at Quality Shipyard, rebuilt 2006 at Lyon Shipyard

Notes: This tug underwent material improvements during the spring of 2006. Her main engines were replaced with electronic Caterpillar Tier I compliant 3512B machinery, gears were replaced with new Twin Disk model 5600 and generators were replaced with John Deere 100Kw units.  She had new shafts installed and received a new aluminum and fiberglass high house that provides for 42' visibility. Wiring was replaced and significant portions of her electronics were renewed and updated.

Notes: The Miss Gill spent a year at Main Iron Works in 2005 having various tanks, exterior plate and bulwarks renewed.  During this yard period her winch was completely rebuilt and two new 2' cables were installed.   We bought her during this shipyard renovation, operated the her for 24 months and in mid 2008 took her back to the yard for further investment.  We replaced her main engines with Caterpillar tier II technology that make her an honest 3000BHP, her reduction gears were replaced with ZF technology, and new John Deere/Kohler generators were installed.  These tier II engines are the most advanced electronic platform available. She got new wheels and shafts and we installed dripless packing glans around her shafts.   She received an improved aluminum and fiberglass high house that provides for 42' visibility. Wiring was renewed and her electronics were replaced with state of art technology.

Notes: This tug underwent significant steel, wiring, stern fendering and interior improvements/rebuilding just after we bought - the summer of 2007. Her main engines were torn down completely and remanufactured with Caterpillar parts.  We replaced her entire electronics package and then in 2008 she headed back to the yard for  new fuel effecient John Deer/Kohler generators and a rebuild of her Lufkin reduction gears.  We also replaced her shafts and reworked her rudders.  We added an ABS certified improved high house that provides for 41' height of eye.

Notes: The tug had material improvements during the winter of 2006.  We added the latest  technology when we bought Caterpillar ACERT C32 model engines.  These machines are tier II and the latest electronic marine gear produced by Caterpillar.  At the same time we installed new John Deere 65Kw generator sets and renewed her winch.  She too has new shafts and to further improve effeciency we installed new five bladed propellers.     


Tug: Captain D – built 1974 at Bollinger Shipyard and rebuilt 2008 at Lyon Shipyard

Notes   

This tug underwent significant rebuilding during the summer of 2008. Her main engines  was replaced with Caterpillar 3508C technology.  These tier II engines are top quality and with them we added 25% more BHP to this tug.   She had new wiring installed and new fuel effecient John Deer/Kohler generators installed.  We installed a new sewage system and reworked various degrees of plumbing.  She had new shafts and dripless packing installed.

The Taft operates with her original 1980's vintage DD 16V149's engines.  Early in 2009 we rebuilt this machinery, rebuilt her gears, replaced and upgraded her fendering and upgraded the electronics.   She received new shafts within the past 12 months.  


Inland, Bay and Bay tributaries


Tug: Ellie J – (Push Tug) built 1968 rebuilt 2007 at Lyon Shipyard

Notes: The Ellie was rebuilt in 2006/2007 at Lyon Shipyard. During this rebuild her tanks and plumbing were renewed, her engines were replaced with Caterpillar technology and gears replaced with new model TD 540's.  A third deck was added, her electronics were replaced and we added a capstan to the aft deck and stern controls to the pilot house. She received electric bow mounted push gear.  She is top tier push tug with a “spoon" bow that allows her to make steady and dependable progress towing in the Bay during foul weather. She is fixed with flanging rudders and has new shafts and propellers.

Notes: The Lorette was rebuilt in 2006 at Colonna Shipyard. During this yard re-build her tanks and plumbing were renewed, her propulsion was replaced with Cummins KTA 38 IMO tier I compliant engines and her twin Disk 540 gears were re-built.  She had new generation five balded stainless steel wheels installed and drip-less packing added to new shafts. Her electric bow winches were installed.  She is strong and heavy push boat designed for mulitiple barge tows in inland waters.
